The Story of Ruth (Part 1)
Naomi, Let Your Light So Shine

The Story of Ruth

What does it mean to be a priest exactly? Has God really called believers to be a Kingdom of Priests? If so, what does that entail? In this study we will explore what God reveals to us in His word. God will never ask us to do anything that He will not make provisions for us to succeed! Today, let us begin to understand what it means to come boldly to God’s throne so that we can later understand what it means to be a Kingdom of priests before the LORD.

Ephesians 2:8-10
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

God Bless You All. : )

Moses: Not by Might
By Lisa DeVinney

Moses: Not by Might

This week we’re going to meet a new enemy of Israel, the Amalekites; a new hero, Joshua; and we’re going to find the Israelites in their first military battle. As usual, God has some important lessons for His people to learn as they face this new enemy. They’re going to find that there’s more going on than just what meets the eye. Most importantly, they’ll see that it’s not military might that wins the battle—it’s prayer and the power of the Spirit that saves the day!

Memory Verse: “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” — Zechariah 4:6b

Exodus 17:10-11: “So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.”
James 5:16: “The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
Romans 8:31: “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”
Fill in the Blanks:
  1. The ____________________ attacked the children of Israel.
  2. Moses chose ____________________ to lead the Israelite army.
  3. Moses stood on a hill with the __________ of __________ in his hand.
  4. When Moses became tired, ____________________ and Hur helped hold up his hands.
  5. God told ____________________ to write an account of this battle in a book.

True or False:
  1. The Amalekites attacked the weakest of the Israelites.
  2. Moses led the army of Israel into battle.
  3. When Moses’ hands went down, the Amalekites prevailed.
  4. The Amalekites feared God.
  5. Aaron and Hur helped keep Moses’ hands up when he got tired.
Devotional Poem: Not By Might

Not by power, nor by might;
But by God’s own hand.
He, alone, can save the day
By His mere command.

Just obey. Follow His lead.
Then watch what He will do.
For when you’re facing battles,
He can win each one, for you.

Musical Instruments of God
By Julie Pisacane

Musical Harp

Opening Prayer: Join together in prayer today and ask the Lord to open up our understanding as we read through His Word.

Discussion Questions:
  1. Do birds sing a song? Crickets? Frogs? Have you ever listened to their songs?
  2. Have you ever heard the rain splash against a window or into puddles?
  3. Did you know whales in the ocean have been heard singing?
  4. Did you know in some recorded music, sounds of nature (such as bird songs, whale songs, and falling rain) are blended into the music?
  5. Do you sing or play an instrument?
  6. How many instruments can you name?
  7. Have you ever thought of yourself as an instrument?

Let's focus on the last question because you are an instrument of God. Your heartbeat, your voice, and your hands were created to praise God, and the sounds that come from you can and do praise Him.

There are sounds that we can make as well that may not sound like music... right? We know what screaming sounds like, and how we feel when we hear others bickering and arguing. These sounds do not sound like music at all!

A piano can be played carefully and thoughtfully—or someone can bang on the keys in an irritating way and pure noise comes out. A trumpet can sound bold, triumphant, and clear, or if played the wrong way, a sound of pure disturbance. The same goes for people.

Ephesians 4:31-32
“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.”

Zephaniah 3:17
“The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”

God designed us to be peacemakers—musical, joyful, loving, and tenderhearted. What kind of instrument do you want to be for God? Will you be as a song for Him, the way He intended you to be?

Close in Prayer.
