Our spiritual concern is not only for our own selves but our concern extends
to others around us . One verse that helps us to understand this is written
in 1 Corinthians 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for
the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
We have discovered when reading The Bible, that our concern for others is
part of our daily Christian walk. Paul recognizes the fruits of The Spirit
that are evident in the Church of Corinth.
We read in the above verse about the grace of God given to them by Jesus
Christ. This verse is followed in detail about the blessings of God through
verse 9 in this first chapter. Paul’s salutation to the Corinthian church
starts on a positive note giving praise to God for what he has witnessed.
When we see the Holy Spirit active in the lives of those around us, we
understand that only God can create such a change and it causes us to
rejoice.
Paul gives us insight on what a true believer prays for when it
comes to the spiritual well being of others. In verse 4, Paul
mentions the grace of God bestowed to others, in verse 5 he mentions
knowledge, in verse 6 Paul writes about the testimony of Christ being
confirmed in them and such confirmation only comes by way of the Holy
Spirit.
When we read 1 Corinthians 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift;
waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: 8 Who shall also confirm
you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus
Christ. 9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his
Son Jesus Christ our Lord, --we can clearly see and understand the
importance and edification of being united with a Christ mind and to be
active in our faith as we wait for the coming of our Lord Jesus.
What Paul has written here is meant for us as well. True believers are to be
active witnesses showing spiritual concern for others because the Day of The
Lord will be a blessing for those in Christ and a curse to those under
wrath. God’s wrath is everlasting destruction and we want to be found doing
as the Lord commanded us to do and that is to live by the faith God has
blessed us with and be His witnesses for the Kingdom of Christ. Jesus showed
compassion, concern, love and mercy while He walked on this earth, setting
the perfect example that we should all follow. John 12:26 If any
man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant
be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
Let us prayerfully give thanks and praise to God, for it is He who helps us
to be of the same mind as we desire His greatest blessings to pour down upon
all those around us. Not only do we want to be found faithful, but we want
others to be found faithful too. Philemon 1:4 I thank my God,
making mention of thee always in my prayers,
Answered Prayer
My prayers were said to you Lord,
Prayers for the needs of this day.
Before I finished saying them
I knew you answered right away.
Your holy presence strengthens me
In such a way I clearly see
Your hand at work in my own life
Pouring blessings…removing strife.
Your light shines bright into my soul
As it has many times before
You are my Shepherd, this I know
I'm in your keep forevermore.
Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you,
What things soever ye desire, when ye pray,
believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
