Small and Great

Junior Level

Intro:
Our Sunday school topic for today talks about the day, at the end of your life on earth, when you will meet God and face his judgment.

Handout: Small and Great

outline:
  1. Ask the students - Imagine that you are holding a candle in a darkened room.
  2. Ask the students - Holding the candle, can you walk ahead in the darkness?
  3. Would it help if you knew someone was waiting for you at the other end of your walk.
  4. Think of God as that person who will meet you after your walk of life. How will He greet you? Will He judge you harshly? Why?
  5. What does the Bible say?
  6. One day, those who have been great here on earth, but have placed their hope and trust in God, and have come before Him humbly as little children, will be summoned to appear before the throne of God to receive their rewards for their faith and works here on earth.
  7. The most important question I can ask you right now is: “Where do you fit in?” Are you small or great in your eyes? How great are you in God’s eyes? One day … the small and great stand before God ……
  8. Prayer

activity:

Nring a small candle. Each student will hold it, in turn, and answer questions above.

discussion:

One day, those who feel they are too small to be counted worthy, but have placed their
hope and trust in the Lord, will be summoned to appear before the throne of God to receive their rewards for their faith and works here on earth.

Let your light so shine
before men, that they
may see your good works,
and glorify your Father
which is in heaven.
