  1. Understanding God’s Word
    Teacher’s Guide
    A.  In order to really gain what we must from reading and studying The Holy Bible, the first thing we must do is understand that it is God’s Word.  Every scripture is God Breathed.  It came from the very mouth and breath of God.  It’s not just any book.  It is God’s instruction and His communication to us.  His letter to us if you will and it transcends all others.  The first step in being more effective is to,

    1. Understand that God’s Word is God Breathed (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Proverbs 30:5; Hebrews 4:12; John 1:1-4; John 1:14)

    A.  He is Father to you and I who have accepted Christ.  He speaks to you and I through His written word.  When we read God’s word, we should read it with the understanding that He is speaking it directly into our ears from His own mouth.  God wants to accomplish a good work in you and me.  His word is not void.  It is for purpose.  (Isaiah 55:9-11)
It is meant to accomplish that great work He has begun in His children. God’s word is result driven.  Our Father Never has anything going on in our lives that just haphazard.   He is ALWAYS after a good result, and more than that, He is faithful to complete it!  Praise You Father!  Through His word, He equips us for the work He has planned for us!    (Philippians 1:6)
    2.  Get a fresh approach through The Holy Spirit’s Enlightenment.
Insight and Understanding of God’s Word MUST come to us through the Holy Spirit.
Enlightenment from God’s Holy Spirit makes all the difference. (1 Corinthians 2:9-12)
Talk about the story in Luke 24:30-45 and how they needed the Spirit’s enlightenment to understand what Jesus was trying to teach them.  We are the same.  If we are going to fully understand what God is trying to say to us through His word, we must have enlightenment through His Holy Spirit that lives inside us! (Psalm 119:105)
    3. Know that God’s Word is an invitation for Conversation with Him.
Discuss that God is interested in more than just us memorizing His Word.  He is after relationship with His children.  (Jeremiah 24:7)
Explain how to respond and communicate back to God while reading the scriptures.
We need to read and study God’s word, but for it to come alive in our lives we need to respond to it.  We need to obey it and we need to converse with our Father.  When God speaks to us through His word, we need to talk back to Him.
God has given us the most amazing gift through His word.  What a shame to us if we go every day of our lives and never pick it up and see what He has to say to us.  What an insult to Him and how much we miss if we do not receive this gift He has given to us.  Thank You Lord for Your word to us that quickens us and keeps us alive!
