(Children of GOD not Babylon)
(Part 2)

Handout
Lesson Plan

Discuss how this world is much like Babylon in Daniel's day.
People are interested in making a name for themselves, extremely self indulgent, over stimulated, and self centered.  Explain that we are placed here to influence the world (our Babylon) for the Kingdom of God, not to be influenced by it!

Read Daniel 2:1-13

  1. Summarize what is happening in the text

King Nebuchadnezzar has had a dream and it has troubled him but he cannot remember it and does not know what it means so he has asked all the wise men to tell him and interpret it for him and if they cannot then they will all die.

Read Daniel 2: 14-25

  1. Daniel has found out what is going on and tells the captain of the guard not to kill the wise men but to let him go to the King. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, begin to pray and ask for answers.  Explain that GOD has the answers to all our questions even the ones we don’t understand and we must seek and trust HIM by faith just as Daniel and his friends did.

Read Daniel 2:26-35 (Daniel tells the dream)
Read Daniel 2:36-49 (Daniel interprets the dream)

  1. The image of the dream represents the next Kingdoms that would come as history went by.
  1. Head of Gold – Babylonian Empire (626 to 539 B.C._
  2. Chest and Arms of Silver- Medo-Persian Empire (539 to 331 B.C.)

2 arms represented the two nations coming together. (Discus Cyrus The Great and how GOD called and used him to free His people and some of them did not go home. (Isaiah 44:28; Isaiah 45:1-5 this was written 150 years before Cyrus was born.)  Discuss how we are not suppose to love this world and blend in with this world and that we are supposed to be a light and be separate so that others know we are children of GOD not children of this world (Babylon).
3. Belly and Thighs of Brass – Grecian Empire – 331- 63 B.C.)
4. Legs of Iron- Roman Empire (63 B.C. – A.D. 476)
5. Feet and Toes of Iron and Clay – Ten toes represent A Ten Nation Confederacy that will form in the future.

  1. Discuss the uncut stone representing The Kingdom of Christ that will come and crush all other empires.  There will be no end to His Kingdom!  Praise The LORD!
  2. Discuss that in the dream, as you go down the image, the strength increases but the value of the materials decrease.

Have we traded our moral value for strength, power, and popularity?  IT’S NOT WORTH IT!

Challenge your listeners to stand up and be Daniels in this generation.  To bloom where they have been planted no matter what the circumstances may be because GOD is faithful and HE will be with HIS children wherever they go!

I leave you with this promise in GOD’S Word
Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Dare to be a Daniel, do not give up for The LORD your GOD is with you wherever you go!
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon The Name of The LORD shall be saved.”
