Today's Suggested  Bible Reading

For Teachers : Read this passage twice and let the children know
there will be a  "fill in the blank quiz" and short study time on certain
phrases in this passage.

1And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a
certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him,
Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say,
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

3 Give us day by day  our daily bread.

4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one
 that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.  -Luke 11:1-4

Fill in the blank Bible quiz

1.   Lord, teach us to _________

 2.  _______  Father which art in heaven,

Notice how  Jesus  spoke to us as family
when teaching us to pray .
Jesus did not say "my Father " when teaching on praying  -
 but   " Our Father".

God is building a family through those who believe in
His Son Jesus Christ.

3.  And forgive us our _________;

What are we asking God to do for us ?

What is sin ?
(Take time to discuss , perhaps going over  the 10 commandments.)

Can we  hide any sin from God ? __________________

Is anything hidden from God ?_____________________

Read aloud :   The eyes of the Lord are in every place,
beholding the evil and the good.- Proverbs 15:3

4.  for we also ________ every one
 that is indebted to us.

What is expected of us to do for others
who may have sinned against us in our lives ?

Our gracious God wants us to follow in the footsteps of Jesus
so that we can remain obedient to the will of God  in our lives.
Through  heartfelt prayer, helping others, forgiving others ,
learning God's Word and loving your  neighbor
as He commanded we are doing the will of God.

See if you can think of other things that you have
learned from the Bible that you know to be the will of God .

What a loving God we serve and this is something
we can  thank Him for in prayer.  Talk among your group today
about the importance of prayer and that
God tells us in His Word how He hears all the prayers of His children.

Today's Devotional Poem

When We Bow To Pray

More precious than the air we breathe
Needed throughout all hours each day,
Words lifted up to the One who hears…
Our hearts plea when we bow to pray.

Calling out with courage and trust…
Bowing before His feet ,I must.
Nothing is hidden from The Vine,
He knows all, sweet Saviour of mine.

He taught us to solemnly pray
Our cries known in Heaven above
We cling to Him, eternal stay
Faith prayers answered, saving Love.

Thank you, Everlasting Father.

Suggested Closing prayer :
Heavenly Father , help us realize that we can come
to You  anytime of the day in prayer and that
You are  always with us through  the hard times
 and the good times
Thank you for teaching us
 how to pray through your
precious Son Jesus Christ
and for how to live our lives in the true way
that gives glory to you, dear  Lord.

 Amen .
