Lesson Plan on Following Him

Reference:

1 Peter 2:19 For this [is] thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
1 Peter 2:20 For what glory [is it], if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer [for it], ye take it patiently, this [is] acceptable with God.
1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
1 Peter 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
1 Peter 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed [himself] to him that judgeth righteously:
1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

We as followers of Christ, want to be more like Him in our daily lives. So let's look closer at how He lived:

Explain: Jesus as a Person

Main Points

1) He was never in a hurry.

2)He took time to rest!

3)He never felt He had to prove Himself to anyone.

4) he never wasted His time answering critics.

5) He overcame His past.

Discussion

Our identity comes from GOD- not men!
We all need to stop talking about our limited education, or complaining that everyone in our family is contentious, or repeating stories of those who have failed us. We have to stop pointing the finger at the economy, or advertising our pain, or meditating on our flaws. All of us are challenged in some way; physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. God says "Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert" .Isaiah 43:18, 19
Satan discusses our past. That appears to be the only information he has about us.
Christ discusses our tomorrows. He enters our life to end our past and give birth to our future. We all need to stop taking journeys into yesterday and focus on what's ahead. Christ did, and said" Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father." John 14:12
